Why this candle exists
It began on my mother’s knee
I was six, maybe seven, sitting on my mum’s knee and chatting about whatever small boys chat about. Somewhere in the middle of it I told her I was scared. Scared something might happen to her. Scared she might die.
She told me not to worry, that it wouldn’t happen. Then she added something I have carried ever since:
“But in case I’m wrong, remember that I’ll be able to hear you, even if I can’t answer you. So always keep talking to me.”
Years later those words became a poem. I called it ForgetMeNot. Now it is a candle, made for the moment you sit down, strike a match, and tell someone you love what’s been happening since they’ve been gone.
Light it. Say their name without a tear. And keep talking.
